Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)

Infectious, life-threatening condition caused by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) that inhibits the body's protective immune system. Commonly transmitted through sexual contact, shared intravenous needles/syringes, and unscreened blood transfusions; may also be transmitted to the fetus during pregnancy and through breastfeeding. Definition provided by ERIC: Institution of Education Sciences


Action Research

Active Learning

Activism

Activities

Activity Units

Adapted Physical Education

Adaptive Testing

Testing that involves selecting test items according to the examinee's ability as shown by responses to earlier test items. Definition provided by ERIC: Institution of Education Sciences


Addictive Behavior

Compulsive, uncontrollable urge to use substances (such as alcohol) or engage in activities (such as gambling) despite actual or potential negative physical, emotional, psychological, or social consequences for oneself or others. Adjunct Faculty
